Bedtime classics, fairytales or funny books?

June 2nd, 2008

You might well think that all the odds point toward fairytales as the total winner, after all the Harry Potter tales success. Hundreds of thousand books and whole sets of movie serials all spread around the world after a huge marketing flood tide in less than 10 years. Maybe you’re under the believe that new stories like Harry Potter definitely overcome old ones like the Aesop fables for children.

Well, I’d rather recommend you to read about a study carried out in Great Britain, among over 2200 parents regarding their kids’ literature preferences.

You will be surprised to know that this study found that 1% of the children opted for Aesop fables such as The Tortoise and the Hare as their choice category.

It is understandable once you realize that the Aesop fables are presented in plain language, easy to digest even by toddlers, while they teach clear morals funnily through scenarios similar to those found in true life happenings.

But, don’t take my word for good, go dig deeper instead. Read the complete article by clicking on the following link and enjoy it!
